The Runners

In October, these three men will race 50 miles through the Wye Valley. Follow their training every step of the way as they undertake Operation Ultra! Whether you’re a parkrunner or professional athlete, the male competitive spirit is never far from the surface, so in 2013 we have decided to tap into that. This year, Operation Ultra will put three readers head to head. Our coaching editor Nick Anderson will tutor all three men on their journey towards race day in the Wye One Way 50, a 50-mile race through the Wye Valley. Part of the Welsh Ultra Running Series organised by mightcontainnuts.co.uk, the race begins close to the source of the River Wye, with a route that follows the Wye Valley, plus a short excursion into the Elan Valley via mountains and around the spectacular dams. Starting at 7:30am on October 5, our boys will have 15 hours to make the cut-off time in the battle to be crowned Operation Ultra top dog for 2013!   operation-ultra   The three runners will each recieve regular bespoke training plans from our coaching editor Nick Anderson, plus full running kit from ActivInstinct, a state-of-the-art Garmin and all the nutrition products they need from Maxifuel, plus injury prevention advice from Physio & Therapy.
