Shoes for soldiers
Men’s Running has launched a new campaign to help our soldiers keep on running!
In recent months we have heard from a number of servicemen out in the field who are in desperate need of some new running kit. While we can help one or two with the odd piece of kit we have in the office, we thought there was a lot more we could do.
That’s where Shoes for Soldiers comes in. Men’s Running is calling on all running shoe brands and retailers to donate shoes, socks, kit or all three to our campaign to make sure the servicemen and women putting their lives on the line have got the necessary gear to help them in their training and recreation.
In our August issue we heard from Robert Steen in Camp Bastion who we sent some kit to. “I received my parcel from you on June 2 and am struggling to put into words just what a boost to my morale it was. In fact, it raised everyone’s morale that I work with. The fact that you took time to read my letter and then to send me what you did was awesome. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time and effort and support for the troops, it means a lot.”
There are many more like Robert who could do with some new kit to help them while they serve on the front line, and we want to help. Matthew Rice, serving in the RAF Police in Camp Bastion says: “During a long period away from home without luxuries, helping a soldier out with some new trainers will boost morale and make training more enjoyable as it’s one of the things that helps us pass the time when we are not working.”
If you are a brand or retailer and you want to donate shoes or running kit to our appeal, in the first instance please e-mail email@example.com and tell us what you want to send.
We will publish a list of who has donated what, starting in the October issue of the magazine and also keep a running total going here on our website.
