Run Dem Crew Movember The mighty Run Dem Crew take on the MoName: Atticus HarrisAge: 21Occupation: StudentEvent: Mo’runningDistance: 10KWhat was your race time?I came in at 45 mins 30 seconds. A PB! How long have you been running?I've been running seriously since April 2011.What made you decide to sign up for this race?A friend from Run Dem Crew was signing up for his first race and a bunch of us came along to run too. What were your expectations for the race?I had no intentions of seeing a PB. I knew the course had several hills so was expecting to pace a friend and aim for 55 minutes.Loading...
Atticus Harris: Modest pre race interview - he went on to get a PB!
What were your high and low points during the race, if any?High points were seeing the support team from Run Dem Crew on the course, that helped me dig deep and keep a good pace up. Low point was probably crossing the finish line and being sick. That was a first for me!What was the best part of the course for you?As much as the hills were painful, coming down them allowed me to catch my breath and pick up my speed again. Coming down the main hill in Greenwich park was great, it lead to a long flat section of the course and was a good boost. What was the most challenging part of the course for you?Because the course is a loop you run up two of the same hills, twice. That’s four inclines throughout the course. On the final hill I was getting pretty tired, I knew I had to keep running but my pace must have been snail like for the last 200 meters. How would you describe the crowd support? For such a small race the crowd support was great. Most of the crowds were near the start and finish but more people had turned out then I'd expected. What was the male/female ratio roughly in the race? There were probably more guys than girls but it couldn't have been more than a 60 - 40 percent ratio.Did you see many people running in costume, and if so what was the best costume?Being movember, there were plenty of people with moustaches and 118 style costumes. The best had to be the guy in a Cookie Monster suit. What’s your overall verdict of the race? Give marks out of ten for the following categories:Organisation: 7Scenery: 8Atmosphere: 8Would you do it again next year?Potentially. It depends what races I get up to over the summer. What one tip or piece of information would you like to pass on to anyone thinking of doing this race for the first time?Get some hill training into your schedule so you’re prepared for the Greenwich inclines.
