With the race less than two months away and places selling fast, we are delighted to give one lucky reader the chance to win free entry to the Hugh Rice Jewellers Hull Marathon on 8 April 2012. Not only that but 20 online members will be eligible for a 5% discount off their entry free. To be selected for the discount you must first opt-in to the competition. The Hull Marathon is the event for you whether you're a novice or a seasoned marathon runner. It's mainly run over a flat course in keeping with Humberside and East Yorkshire. It starts and finishes in Hull city centre while taking in sights such as Hull Marina and Hull Football Club's KC Stadium. The main race starts at 8am, while there are also junior races, a corporate challenge and a team relay race for those of you who don't feel up to a whole marathon. There are prizes for the top three men as well as for the team relay race.
Registration is open for the inaugural race. Entry costs £38 for affiliated competitors in advance and £50 on the day. For non-affiliated runners, the costs are £40 in advance and £55 on the day. The team relay costs £75 per team. The anchor runner (who will run the final 12.2K) must be over 16 by the time of the event while all other competitors have to be 15 or over.
