Mate in a State?

We've teamed up with Arthritis Research UK to help you get your inactive friends running We’ve all got one of them, most of us more than one. The friend or family member whose last bout of serious exercise was at school, who looks at you when you regale them with tales of your latest running achievements as though you’d just landed from the moon. Arthritis Research main People who don’t run or keep fit at all have no idea what they’re missing, now this is your chance to show them! Men’s Running and Arthritis Research UK are launching a nationwide challenge to our readers to convert a couch potato into a runner.

THE RULES

2. They can join you at first for a gentle few minutes on the treadmill or down the road.
3. By the end of the competition your former sofa loafer will be able to run a minimum of 5K either on the road, trails or treadmill.
4. You must send us pictures of their achievement to verify that they have reached their goal along with - testimony from them about how they have done it.
The winning pair will receive top to toe kit from Saucony worth £172, including:- Enduro short sleeve T-shirt

HOW TO ENTER

For your chance to win the overall prize, get your unfit friend up and running and send us an e-mail with pictures telling us who you are, why you’re taking part and how your mission is going to editorial@mensrunninguk.co.uk Entries close July 26, 2012.

WHY DO IT?

As a runner, joint and bone health will be something that you have probably spent time considering. Indeed, the fact that you are a fit and healthy runner will help you manage your weight and reduce the risk of contracting osteoarthritis. This is a message worth spreading to your inactive friends and family! Arthritis Research UK Medical Director Alan Silman says: “Running is a great way to keep fit and good for your overall wellbeing. Being overweight can increase the risk of osteoarthritis and running is an excellent
weight management tool.”
